About this event

Registration will open at 8:00am EST on March 30th, 2024.

Please note that there are two pick-up locations that will both be open from 10am-5:30pm: Clague Middle School (2616 Nixon Rd.) and Tappan Middle School (2251 E. Stadium Blvd.). Please be sure to register for a time slot at your preferred location. All species will be available at each of these locations while supplies last.

All trees will be small, bare root seedlings/saplings that will fit easily inside most vehicles. For this giveaway, you will be able to select your tree species upon arrival at the event - tickets are for time slots. See below for species availability. Species will be available until they run out. Limit is four trees per household and one ticket per household (i.e., one ticket is valid for up to four trees. Please do not sign up for more than one ticket.). Please show up no earlier than 5 minutes prior to your time slot to pick out your trees, and then take them home to plant! Tree planting and care information will be provided with every tree.

Species availability (please click on each species name to open an information card about the species - these info cards include planting and care information, as well as information on the mature size of each species):

Northern Whitecedar/Arborvitae (Thuja occidentalis) - 700 available

American Larch (Larix laricina) - 100 available

Eastern White Pine (Pinus strobus) - 150 available

Bur Oak (Quercus macrocarpa) - 50 available

Swamp White Oak (Quercus bicolor) - 150 available

White Flowering Dogwood (Cornus florida) - 750 available

Eastern Redbud (Cercis canadensis) - 750 available

Alleghany Serviceberry (Amelanchier laevis) - 750 available

Common Pawpaw (Asimina triloba)* - 500 available

*Please note that an individual pawpaw tree will only produce either male or female flowers, which means that a tree with male flowers and a tree with female flowers must be planted near one another for the female-flowering trees to produce fruit. We cannot guarantee the flower type of each individual tree provided at this event and recommend planting at least three pawpaws to increase the chances of fruit production.

On behalf of the Office of Sustainability and Innovations, thank you for your interest in receiving a free tree through the 10,000 Trees Initiative, a part of the A2ZERO carbon neutrality plan! By planting a tree, you are helping to increase our city's resilience and achieve our carbon neutrality goals.
